Child Safety Online: How Cutie Clash Pageant Protects Your Child’s Photos and Personal Information
For any parent considering an online kids’ competition, the question of child safety isn’t a footnote — it’s the first question. What happens to my child’s photo? Who can see their information? What stops someone from downloading their image and using it somewhere else?
These are exactly the right questions to ask, and at Cutie Clash Pageant, we’ve built our answers into the platform itself. Here’s a transparent, detailed look at every safety measure we have in place.
Every Photo Is Reviewed Before Going Live
When a parent submits an entry, the photo does not go live immediately. Every single submission is reviewed by a member of our team before it appears publicly on the leaderboard. We check that the image is appropriate, that it clearly features the entered child, and that it meets our content standards.
Photos that are blurry, inappropriate, feature multiple children, or that raise any concern during review are declined and removed without being published. Parents are notified and may resubmit with an appropriate image.
This review step exists because we believe no child’s image should go live on a public platform without a human pair of eyes confirming it’s safe to do so.
All Photos Are Watermarked Before Display
Every approved photo that appears publicly on Cutie Clash Pageant — on the leaderboard, on contestant profile pages, and anywhere else on the site — is watermarked with the Cutie Clash Pageant branding before being displayed.
The watermark is applied automatically as part of our approval process. It appears across the image in a pattern that makes the photo difficult to screenshot, download, or redistribute without our branding clearly visible.
This serves two purposes. First, it discourages unauthorised use of your child’s photo — anyone who attempts to repurpose or reshare the image will have Cutie Clash Pageant watermarks visibly embedded. Second, it protects your child’s image from being used in contexts you haven’t consented to, since any repurposed version will be immediately identifiable as originating from our platform.
What Personal Information Is Never Displayed Publicly
We are deliberate and strict about what information is visible to the public on any contestant’s profile. Here is what we never display:
Your child’s surname. Your child’s date of birth. Your child’s school, crèche, or any educational institution. Your home address or any location information beyond what you choose to share. Your phone number or any contact details. Your email address.
The only information visible publicly on a contestant’s profile is your child’s first name and the bio you write and submit as part of the entry. You control the content of that bio entirely — we display exactly what you write and nothing more.
Your Personal Data and POPIA Compliance
Cutie Clash Pageant is fully compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) — South Africa’s primary data protection legislation. As the Responsible Party under POPIA, Cutie Clash Pageant (Pty) Ltd processes your personal information lawfully, for the specific purposes of administering the competition, communicating with you about your entry, and facilitating prize distribution.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal information or your child’s information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond what is necessary to run the competition.

Right to Request Removal
Parents and legal guardians have the right to request the removal of their child’s entry from the Cutie Clash Pageant platform at any time, for any reason, with no questions asked. To request removal, simply email us at hello@cutieclashpageant.co.za with your child’s name and entry details. We will remove the entry, including all associated photos and personal information, within 24 hours of receiving your request.
This right is permanent. Even after the competition month has ended, you may request that historical data related to your child’s entry be removed from our systems. We will process such requests promptly and confirm removal by email.
How We Handle Suspected Misuse
If you become aware of any misuse of your child’s photo or information in connection with the Cutie Clash Pageant platform, please contact us immediately at hello@cutieclashpageant.co.za. We take all such reports seriously and will investigate and respond within 24 hours on weekdays.
A Note on Social Sharing
When parents share their child’s contestant profile link on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram to gather votes, the shared link opens the contestant’s profile page on our platform — displaying the watermarked photo and the bio the parent submitted. The photo itself does not transfer to social media platforms; the link simply directs people back to our site.
However, parents should be aware that anyone viewing the profile page could take a screenshot. Our watermarking is designed to make this less attractive and to ensure any screenshot carries our branding, but it cannot technically prevent all screenshots. Parents should share links only to communities they trust.
Transparency Is Non-Negotiable
We are parents too. Our commitment is straightforward: your child’s safety comes before everything else we do. If you ever have a concern, a question, or a request relating to your child’s safety on our platform, please reach out. We will always respond, and we will always put your child first.
